We have two larger dogs and a cat in our house so the carpets tend to get discolored to say the least. After using the Bissell ProHeat 2X Select Pet a few times I've determined that you just don't know how dirty your carpet is until you deep clean it. Before we bought the ProHeat some of our carpets were so bad that you almost didn't want to walk on them. The first time we used it the water was almost black and had to be emptied a couple times but boy could you tell the difference. Our home just started to feel cleaner than before and now the rugs just look much better!!!

Let's start out with the positives. First, it is very easy to use. I found it to be pretty intuitive with a quick learning curve. The results are also tremendous. If you make a couple passes down your carpet you will see just how deep it cleans. It's almost like installing new carpeting around your home. And once you are done you will notice that the carpets aren't very wet either. I think the Bissell really pulls the water up and dries it about as much as a professional model.

There are a few things I'd like to see improved though. First, it seems to use more solution than it should and this stuff is expensive. You also have to change the water often but this isn't a hard step. And even though I vacuum the carpets before I use the ProHeat I still get some hair clumping up when I'm done but this could be a byproduct of my vacuum cleaner not removing all the hair. Just a nuisance that I have to pick up some of the hair when I'm done.

Ultimately I think the Bissell ProHeat 2X Select Pet carpet steam cleaner does a very good job and is well worth the money. While it goes have a couple things that could be improved, you would be hard pressed to find a machine that doesn't. It's easy to use, does a GREAT job removing dirt and other stains, and isn't that expensive. We are certainly happy we bought it for our home.
