Won’t buy another Eureka again!

I would rate this vacuum with 1-2 stars and the Eureka customer service dept with 0 stars. Had this for 9 months and it hasn’t worked correctly for the past 4 or 5 months. Doesn’t pick up pet hair, as it is touted to do. Was told by Eureka to take it in for warranty service and after spending 25 bucks there we still had the same trouble. The Eureka rep we got the 2nd time tried to troubleshoot and had us doing things that the warranty service should have or maybe did do. Also tried to sell us filters after all the troubleshooting was done and we still had the same problem. Now we are stuck with a vacuum that half works. I wouldn’t buy another vacuum from Eureka!!

Enough power but has a couple of faults

The Electrolux 3670G Boss Mighty Mite 12 Amp canister vacuum cleaner has a very strong motor and creates a good suction. However it would be more beneficial having a narrower hose and a wand that was wider in diameter to allow easier air flow. This vacuum is simple to carry while it is in operation. A long hose and wand and a power cord that is perfect for use in apartments and small homes make it a great choice. It is quite noisy at times though but it does not bother me. The Mighty Mite canister along with all its attachments are constructed of very thin plastic so do not let the kids stand or step on any of them or they will break.

The ergonomics are not that great and the plastic corners are sharp and need to be rounded. It can be very uncomfortable to handle as well. I found the power button to be quite small and can only be operated by using your thumb. The power cord winds up manually under the machine which is annoying but normally keeps the machine from rolling effortlessly while the cord is wound up. The bags on this particular model have a good capacity considering that it is light and portable. The included 10 inch floor tool works exceptionally well on bare floors and ok on low carpets but works terrible on the thicker setting for carpets. I guess that is what an upright is for though. Overall it’s one of the better canister vacuums for the money and I give it 4 stars.

Does exactly what a vacuum cleaner should

I recently bought the Eureka 4870MZ Boss SmartVac upright and feel it’s a great vacuum cleaner for the money. Most of the other reviews I read were for the 4870GZ but we opted for the MZ for our home. Overall it’s one of the best vacuums we have owned, especially since it is much cheaper than other similar upright cleaners with HEPA. It has great suction and seems to get more dirt and dust out of my carpets than the previous Hoover we owned.

I haven’t had any problems with the Power Paw attaching to the vacuum and feel that it does a great job at cleaning as well. It comes with a clear plastic cover that is easy to slip onto the cleaner just like the instructions say. Some others have complained about this so I thought I would mention that I haven’t had these problems with our model.

We have a variety of floors around our home. The bare floor setting does an admirable job as well which is refreshing as it is saving us from all the extra sweeping we used to do. With the brush being disabled we don’t have to worry about damaging our tile floors. The place where this vacuum really shines is on the carpets though. It doesn’t matter the depth of the rug as it adjusts easily for any height.

I love the Eureka 4870MZ Boss. I wanted to get a Dyson but for about 1/3 the price this cleaner is all I need for my home. I’m happy I bought it and use it every week.

Decent vacuum cleaner for the price

I bought this vacuum about 2 years ago and it has been a decent investment for our home. I didn’t have the money for a more expensive upright like a Dyson so I opted for the Eureka. It was purchased at our local Wal Mart but I wished I did some comparison shopping online because I see better prices for it now.

The good:

• The Altima has pretty good suction for vacuuming our entire house.
• The Power Paw attachment is great for furniture and pet hair, which we have a lot of.
• Not too heavy so I can carry it up the stairs pretty easy.
• Can’t argue with the price.

The bad:

• Have to clean the dust filters after each use, otherwise it will quickly lose suction power.
• HEPA filter doesn’t seem to last that long. We replace it every couple months.
• Hair is always tangling up around the plastic filter. Not a big deal but has to be cleaned often.

All in all I would recommend this vacuum only to someone who is looking to save money. If you have the money to afford a Dyson or even a higher end Bissell I would go that route. That’s what I’m doing next time around. However, the Eureka Altima has been pretty good to us for 2 years so I’m not replacing it just yet.
