Worth the price with our hard floors

I have a couple of children as well as two larger dogs so I’ve always struggled with keeping the floors clean. I decided to buy the iRobot Scooba floor washing vacuum cleaner to see if I could cut down on the time I had to spend doing it. I have to have clean floors so I find myself constantly sweeping and mopping as most of our floors are either linoleum or hardwoods.

I set the Scooba to run once per day on each level of our home. The results have been positive as I no longer see hair and dirt everywhere. I can walk around on the floors with my bare feet now without getting dirt all over the bottoms. My only complaint is that it doesn’t automatically go up and down stairs but I’m not sure how they would accomplish that.

We have also found that since we run it often there is very little buildup of the dust and dirt that used to accumulate on everything. Over time it has really turned our house into a clean home and I love that. It’s probably easier on the Scooba as it doesn’t have to work very hard every day.

One thing to remember is that it is not perfect, since it is doing all the work itself. You could probably do a better job manually but when you run it often it really makes a difference. Another small complaint is it will get tangled on certain things like chairs or things left on the floor. You just have to keep your rooms organized before turning it loose.

All in all this was the best $300 I ever spent. It saves me a lot of time every week and frankly I don’t like cleaning anyways. That’s why I bought the iRobot 330 Scooba vacuum cleaner, to do the things that I don’t like to.

Vacuuming has become fun with the Roomba 560

I have been looking at buying a Roomba for a while now and decided to give the iRobot 560 vacuum cleaner a try. Well, it vacuums much better than I had hoped for as I thought it would miss a lot of dirt around the home and would be more like a gimic. I was wrong about this as it actually does get quite a bit of surface dirt off the floors. It keeps the wooden floors much cleaner than I ever did when I was using the broom every day. It really gets everything off of the hard floors, I can say that. When it’s done I find that emptying it out and cleaning the brushes is an easy task.

I set it to clean between 2 and 3 times per week to coincide around our one weekly vacuuming using our larger upright. We have two small dogs and the biggest concerns are the higher traffic areas where the pets and kid run around. The Roomba just kinda does its’ thing, working around the various rooms I want it to vacuum and keeps going until it gets all the dirt up. One thing I was initially worried about was how would it handle the electrical cords I have all over the place. I have read that some other iRobots have problems with them but I haven’t seen any. I don’t have to move any cords at all. It handles the large area rugs as well as it vacuums the carpet and the surrounding hardwood floors.

I noticed that another iRobot Roomba model comes with a remote control but I don’t think I need one. I mean, I’m lazy and I want the machine to just do what it does without my control. I like it this way and it seems to work best when it’s going around by itself. If you have been thinking about buying one and have the extra money I say go for it. I wouldn’t use it as your only vacuum cleaner but instead use it to keep the house (especially hard floors) pretty tidy in between cleanings. You will find that it takes you much less time to get your entire home clean when you have been using a Roomba every few days.

I used to make fun of these vacuums, not anymore

I have previously owned 3 Roomba vacuum cleaners but this is my first iRobot 530. I think this is a great product in terms of convenience but won’t replace your everyday full sized vacuum. However, the 530 will do a good job on a variety of floors if you program it to start cleaning every day or so. You will find yourself sweeping and vacuuming far less frequently which is a time saver indeed, especially if you have children or pets.

One thing that seems to dog these robotic vacuums is that they tend to break down more often. I have had this problem on one of my previous models but so far this one has held up, thought I’ve only had it for 6 months. When the other model broke down I called iRobot and they were very willing to ship a replacement part to me so I can say that at least they are willing to keep their customers happy. This is one reason I decided to buy their newer Roomba.

The bottom line is that the 530 vacuum cleaner is a good product for getting your tile, wood, and even carpets clean without you lifting a finger. They are fun to watch as they work their way around the many items in their way. You may even feel like it has become part of the family as it performs its’ daily chores on schedule. Our cats have fun with it when it starts making its’ way around the dining room. I think our family will always have a Roomba as it just cuts down on the time we have to vacuum and sweep our floors, and tends to keep the dust at bay on the other days.
