Dirt Devil Power Path Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Good vacuum, only a couple minor quirks

I recently bought the Dirt Devil Power Path upright vacuum to replace my worn out old bagless model that I had for a few years. It was a cheapo cleaner so I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. It just wasn't picking up dirt like it should so I thought it was time for a new one. While Dirt Devil isn't exactly the best brand it should suit me just fine for another few years. I just can't see paying hundreds of dollars like some of the high end vacuums cost. Crazy!

I have to say that this vacuum sucks up the dirt better than the last one I had. The dirt cup fills up pretty quickly and it seems to be getting some of the stuff that the older vacuum left behind. The path is pretty wide too, I think it's an inch wider so I find myself spending a little less time vacuuming each room. The hose works pretty good too and the attachments make it easy to clean my furniture. This is important because the dog tends to sleep on the couch and I need a way to get the hair off. The power that comes through the hose is very good and it picks up the hair with no problems. I don't have to keep going over it like my last vacuum cleaner.

The HEPA and foam filter are very easy to remove for cleaning. Just pop open the plastic door and take them right out. It's hard to tell just how good the HEPA works but it is rated to remove almost all the allergens (something like 99%). Seems pretty standard for today's vacuums.

There are a couple small complaints I have with it. First, it doesn't do a very good job on bare floors despite what the description said. I can't complain much because uprights aren't really designed for bare floors but it would be nice if it worked a little better. I find that I have to use the attachments and hose to really pick anything up off the linoleum. Also, it is one of the heavier vacuum cleaners I've used. It's not very easy to carry up the stairs at all. I do think that this weight helps it get down into the carpets though.

Overall I like the Dirt Devil Power Path. It has very good suction and the attachments work as advertised. It also is pretty inexpensive and seems to provide good value for the price. With a couple minor changes it could be better but that might drive the cost up. I would buy one again though.
