Dyson DC33 Multi-Floor Upright Bagless Vacuum
Quite A Good Value For The Price
Rating:
By Adam Kimchi
For starters I'm giving the Dyson DC33 Multi-Floor 4 out of 5 stars but that is only because I only give out 5 star ratings to perfect vacuums (though this is close). Like many other reviewers this is my very first Dyson and I love it so far. Now I've only had it for a couple of months but I've had zero mechanical problems with it.
The suction power is nothing short of amazing. We typically vacuum our entire house at least once per week so I was curious to see what the DC33 would pick up, or more accurately what our old one left behind. Needless to say I had to empty the dirt canister at least 4 times. It seemed to pick up just about everything including basic dirt as well as very fine dust. As long as you periodically wash the filters, the suction will stay strong and it will keep picking everything up.
Being able to turn the brushroll off is a very nice feature as well. You can clean your tile or other hard floors by simply turning the dial. Then when you are ready for carpets again, simply turn the dial back to 'carpet' and the brushes will start moving. Very convenient and simple to use.
Another big plus is the lightweight design. You can easily carry it up and down stairs, or really wherever you need to. Our old vacuum was much heavier. I think Dyson uses polycarbonate plastic which is supposed to be very strong. It's definitely lighter than you would think, that's for sure.
The biggest negative I find with this upright vacuum cleaner is the extension wand. While it is super convenient since it stretches way out, like 15 feet or so, it is also difficult to use when you don't need all that length. It's nice being able to leave the vacuum at the bottom of the stairs and still be able to stretch the hose all the way up to the top, but if you have to do something close-up like furniture it takes a little getting used to. The head is also a little too bulky for reaching under our bed but it does go under our tables with no problems.
I gotta be honest, I was a little hesitant with the few bad reviews I found for Dyson vacuums in general but I decided to give it a try anyways. The DC33 Multi-Floor is by far the best upright I've owned and if it didn't have those couple very minor flaws I would give it a perfect rating. Not only does it do a great job at removing dust from our floors, but they have made the sometimes difficult tasks of cleaning the filters and collection canister very easy.
