I researched canister vacuums for a long time before I decided to buy the Miele S4212 Polaris. This vacuum cleaner is actually pretty small and compact, and it doesn't weigh much either. You can put it on its' back for easy storage and use on uneven surfaces like stairs. I also find that the onboard tools work great and are easy to get to. However, the best thing I like about this Miele is the telescoping wand as I can clean my drapes and other high corners without much work.

The head works pretty good on my carpets though they aren't very thick but it has so much suction that I don't think it would be a problem. It really shines on my hard floors as well which is why most people buy a canister. I have a good mixture of floors so I needed something that was flexible enough to handle it. The S4212 is just what I needed in my home. If you have more rugs you might opt for the Turbo head but I didn't need it.

I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone who wants one of the best canister vacuums you can buy. Miele is always considered a top company and if you read any other reviews you will see why. I know because I read many of them before buying.
